Occupational Therapy

Our clinical Occupational Therapy services are evidence-based, goal-oriented, and client-centred in order to promote successful outcomes in rehabilitation. Our OTs use meaningful activities to guide individuals through recovery from injury, disability, and/or illness back to the activities they want or need to do to achieve a better quality of life. Services are offered in the home, hospital (discharge planning), community, and/or workplace.

Occupational therapy services include:

  • an individualized assessment, during which the client and Occupational Therapist collaborate to determine the therapy goals

  • customized intervention to improve the client’s ability to perform daily activities he or she would like to do and/or need to do to reach the goals

  • an outcomes evaluation to ensure that the goals are being met and/or to modify the intervention plan.

Occupational therapy services also include comprehensive evaluations and will assess and address the individual’s physical, cognitive, sensory perceptual and emotional functional status, and determine barriers preventing participation in his/her normal activities of daily living.
